Lewis Brander
Solo Exhibition
Vardaxoglou
27th July 2022

This issue’s Featured Exhibition is Lewis Brander’s solo exhibition at Vardaxoglou in Soho. Having first witnessed Lewis’ work shortly after he graduated from Goldsmiths in 2018, and subsequently worked closely with him after he returned from a two-year stint in Athens to stage ‘First Light’, a two-person exhibition of Lewis and Sonya Derviz at Collective Ending HQ, I am incredibly proud of his impressive debut solo, and would urge you all to catch it in-person.

Tanoa Sasraku
'Terratypes' Solo Exhibition
Spike Island
20th July 2022

This issue’s Featured Exhibition text takes a slightly different turn, as I make an exception for an excellent exhibition that is sadly now closed, Tanoa Sasraku’s debut institutional solo exhibition ‘Terratypes’ at Spike Island in Bristol. For those itching to see Tanoa’s artwork in the flesh fear-not, as Whop, Cawbaby (2018) is currently on display in Tate Liverpool’s romp around the British countryside ‘Radical Landscapes’, and she is preparing for solo exhibitions at Vardaxoglou in Soho (October 2022) and PEER in Hoxton (February 2023), so mark your diaries!

Harminder Judge
'Rising Skin from Rock and Chin' Solo Exhibition
The Sunday Painter
13th July 2022

This issue’s Featured Exhibition is Harminder Judge’s excellent solo exhibition ‘Rising Skin from Rock and Chin’ at The Sunday Painter. I first encountered Harminder’s work at an erstwhile Royal Academy Schools Premiums exhibition and have seized any opportunity to peer into their endless expanse ever since. Many thanks to him for an insightful and illuminating conversation early this week.

This issue’s Featured Exhibition is Georgia Dickie overdue debut UK solo exhibition ‘Frozen Game’ at Soft Opening in Bethnal Green, a captivating collection of cardboard compositions that question the assumed hierarchy of artistic materials, highlight the importance of increased environmental awareness and subtly satirise our capitalist society.
